After a summer hiatus, the Movie MacGuffin returns. First up, some brief (very brief) catching up of some of the movies I enjoyed this summer, and what I thought of them in no more than a sentence or two.
The Hangover - Rating A
A simple buddy comedy that is quite simply the funniest movie in years.
Bruno - Rating C+
A mildly amusing over the top romp that borrows much from Borat, but hurts for its lack of identity.
Public Enemies - Rating C
Depp falls flat in this overly tame, often dull gangster throwback.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Rating B-
Wildly over the top, yet oddly satisfying popcorn flick that entertains rather than engage its audience.
Inglorious Basterds - Rating A
Tarantino’s best film since Pulp Fiction. A wonderfully entertaining fairytale that takes monumental, yet acceptable liberties with the history books.
UP - Rating A
Pixar works their magic in yet another timeless tale, this time their antagonist; Age.
I Sell the Dead - Rating B+
Fun and simple tale of horror, perfectly cast, and eerily imaginative.
