'The Walking Dead' Coming to AMC

Comic book writer Robert Kirkman's zombie apocalypse series 'The Walking Dead' is being adapted into a live action television series for AMC.  News was announced today that AMC, the network behind the critically acclaimed 'Mad Men' and 'Breaking Bad,' have greenlit production on the pilot that could see a launch for the series as soon as next year.

Kirkman's series, first published by Image Comics in 2003 has become a staple in the horror comic industry.  As a television show, the series will have the opportunity to unfold more completely than a film adaptation would in regards to being faithful to the source material.  Already, Frank Darabont, known for directing Stephen King's The Mist, Green Mile, and Shawshank Redemption, and Gale Anne Hurd, producer of Aliens, and producer/co-writer of the Terminator films, have both signed on to work on 'Walking Dead.'

Kirkman, a personal inspiration of my own, has created a masterpiece in post-apocalyptic fiction, that will translate into a television experience unlike any other that has come before.  I am psyched about this news, and especially pleased  that AMC will be the series home.
